These are the courses I instruct at Terra Arts:
SCULPTURE (HISTORY & SKILLS OF THE AMERICAN SCULPTOR)
Friday 8:45 - 10:15
6th grade & up
$450 per semester // $900 per school year
Your student will learn from famous American history sculpture examples and create imaginative sculptures from their own ideas, from portrait sculptures of George Washington to modern claymation techniques. Subjects will include portraits, animals, casts of features and busts, drapery studies, anatomy, and more. Towards the end of the school year, students will create a personal sculpture in whichever subject they choose. Materials used will primarily be water-based clay, but will also use oil-based clay, tinfoil, cardboard, plaster, and more.
THE AMERICAN LANDSCAPE
Friday 10:20 - 11:50
6th grade & up
$450 per semester // $900 per school year
In this course, your student will learn the history and art techniques of the American Landscape—from the American Hudson River School artists to California Impressionism. Students will work in a variety of mediums, such as graphite, charcoal, ink, pastels, oil pastels, watercolor, gouache, acrylic paint, and oil paint. Students will learn how to create a compelling composition, draw preliminary sketches, apply color theory to their art, use a variety of brushwork and techniques, and create depth using atmospheric perspective.
INTERMEDIATE OIL PAINTING
Friday 12:20 - 2:45
6th grade & up

This class combines oil painting skills with American Art History. From the westward expansion to the modern period of American History. Throughout the year students will paint from Old Master artworks, still lifes, outdoor scenes, and photo references. Students will also create personal projects, where they come up with their own compositions and find their own references and sources of inspiration. This is a really informative and fun art class for intermediate art students.
I am one of the five teachers in the drop off program for grades 1st-5th. I teach the Fine Arts Class.
