Service Description

​COURSE DESCRIPTION: Dive into the world of watercolors and pastels as we capture the beach environment; studying the elements of waves, clouds and bluffs whilst learning the unique techniques of these fun mediums. Throughout the workshop, young artists will grow in artistic confidence as they learn to blend water colors seamlessly to capture the movement of the sea and sky. They will also enjoy experimenting with the rich textures and vibrant hues of pastels, as they explore the skills of layering and blending to bring their coastal scenes to life. Guided by experienced instructor Chapman Hamborg, participants will explore the step by step process of creating captivating work inspired by nature. They will learn the art of selecting a compelling composition, sketching preliminary studies and translating these into works of art. By the end of the workshop, students will not only have honed their technical skills but also have gained a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Equipped with new skills, knowledge and creativity, they will leave inspired to continue exploring the process of capturing seascapes through watercolors and pastels. MATERIALS: Watercolor & pastels materials provided. Just bring a mixed media sketchbook and be prepared to be outside.
